Kamani is our boss lady. She manages and co-ordinates all the activities of Lakuna and is a traditional Sri Lankan designer.

Since 2000, Kamani has been working as a technician, marker designer and pattern designer for Brandix Casualwear Ltd in Sri Lanka. Her creative and technical activities were were accessed through Brandix, by clients including:

  • Marks and Spencer,
  • Liz Claiborne,
  • Banana Republic,
  • A & F
  • and many other international buyers.

Kamani received her initial training from the Clothing Industry Training Institute and University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. She gained additional experience through participating in workshops and training programmes at Phoenix College of Clothing Technology and National Apprentice Boards in Sri Lanka.

Since 2005, Kamani has been living in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK with her husband and continues to work as an independent designer. Her work includes design making, patchwork, painting, sewing and knitting.
